Two socks knitted simultaneously, one inside the other. Magic
Socks - click for instructions. Please note: the link at the bottom
of the first instruction page that is supposed to take you to page 2 is
broken. Click here
for page 2, and here
for page 3. Leftover Regia in blue and red - contrasting colors to make the double knitting easier. I'm doing these toe-up instead of cuff-down, and I'm so looking forward to figuring out how to do the heel from this direction... a smart woman would have followed directions the first time, but nooooo, not me. I'm not enjoying these as much as I thought I would... I think it's because switching colors after every stitch is so damned slow. It's like k1, p1 ribbing, only much worse. This photo shows the socks as they are being knit. |

After many long months, here we are at the end. |

Just before binding off... fraternal Siamese twins joined at the cuff. |

Done. Done done done done DONE!!! And now for the boring analysis: one word, tedious. Incredifuckingly tedious. This isn't the sort of pattern you attempt in order to make a pair of socks quickly, because trust me... quick it ain't. It's the sort of thing you do if you're clinically insane and need to prove it in public. I enjoyed the challenge of beginning the toes and working the heels, but the rest of the way it was deadly dull. Also, this is not my best work; I found it tough to keep to gauge, I made a huge mistake at the heel and had to tear out and redo, and despite my best efforts the cuff is bound off a little too tightly. You want proof that I'm insane? I'm thinking about doing another pair to see if I can work out these problems. Someone call my shrink. |
